David Lindley

Went and saw him Wednesday night at a place called “Space” in Evanston, IL. 

Played a 90 minute set which was about 45 minutes of music, 45 minutes of jokes, stories and politics in true troubador fashion. 

Once I was able to relax and zone to the tuneage at his pace, it was enjoyable – totally impressive player with decent vocals and a fun persona. 

Looks funny, too, but plays unbelievably. 

Never used a guitar nor a banjo nor bass, but had about 10 different stringed instruments, had some kinda distortion on a thin electric oud. 

Told how Arabic muso’s is combining Eastern and Western music stylees, as he does – “Drives the terrorists fuckin’ crazy!” 

I’d go see him again.

The room was full of tables for this show – sometimes they take ’em all out.
