“That is take one on the left and take 2 on the right for leads.

Pretty much faders-up, altho’ I hadda fix a chorus of bass and I edited out a lot of the leads until the end.

That’s my new drummer that you missed, and I played the bass with him when we recorded those.

My guitar player gave me the the title/chorus inna email.”

The British Lions, live

Ever hear of ’em?

Remnants of Mott, rather Springsteen-ish, covering the Animals and Stones and Garland Jefferies.

The recent-release live record (‘Frisco ’79)is good – Majors could really play (check out, “Love Now”), and Fiddler is in fine voice.

And then there’s the former Hooples – great musos.

Kinda like a Brit E-Street band, their medley of “RocknRollStar/Only RocknRoll/Pretty Vacant” is fun and the ending demos cool.

A cuppla album reviews

Shake your Money Maker Live – I so wanna be in this band, just excellent, thanx.

You heard the recent live ZZ Top, yeah?  Not a exciting but rather a cleaner mix than the Crows’ record (I’d say it’s more a board mix) – who have better but  gospel-hippiesh vox. And Robinson sings great, where ZZT’s vox is  …  good. (He’s brain and balls and they are, like, guts)

If’n yer into screaming female almost-metal, I love Dead Sara. Pleasure to Meet You is like Chris Cornell-style vox (by a female) on top of heavy pop-metal. Notta supergroup but confident and witha sound, the rhythm section is guys and the voc/rthymgtr and the rthymgtr are bot’ female.  Lot o’ ‘tude in the voice and the lyrics.

In ’21 they were raiding the vaults and released Prince’s Welcome 2 America.  I had bought the piano versions of his hits record and was like, “Cool, but I’ll not listen to this much” and haven’t. Welcome is like fairly chill, kinda super-tight light funk with Prince pontificating, once or twice preachin’. Like always. But this is good, and the bass is played by Tal Wilkenfeld, herself quite famous (bass for Jeff Beck, etc.)

Aiight.
