I gots some cleanin’ to do

Writing, advertising, art, S. Pressfield

My friend Paulie and I spend hours on the net reading and exchanging links of good stuff, mostly politics, but often history, and ecology,  and Star Trek, and media and art.

He sent this link:

The Most Important Writing Lesson I Ever Learned

And I like it, what the author says. and I wrote a response to it, thus:

Not just writing, it’s a concept that I live by re my music.
I know you get some ads directly from me of stuff I post. You will you never get ads of my music from anyone else. (At least not until they start charging for storage or bandwidth.)
That’s because I refuse to engage in commerce with my art. That means I start out not giving a fuck if anyone listens – I’m still gonna do it, so I eliminate the need for response, $, etc., and get on with the doing of it.
Note I said, “need”. Doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate such things, just that I do not allow it to be the slightest motivation for my art.
And if that sounds pompous, so be it – art is about ego, courage, insecurity, love, hate – y’know, it’s about life from its own vantage.
And if you think I’m not serious, there’s over 600 songs at this site, alone:
